More recently, we partnered up with the incredible team at Clapham based charity, Royal Trinity Hospice who kindly loaned a handful of our favourite preloved picks to style alongside our swimwear as part of our “RE.DEFINED by RE.BORN” edit.
As an advocate for shopping second-hand ourselves, we couldn’t be more excited to have Royal Trinity on board our most collaborative shoot to date, the charity dubbing itself as “London’s answer to sustainable fashion” - and we couldn’t agree more!
We were kindly granted access to both the Clapham Junction/Northcote Rd stores, in search for our sustainable gems to pair alongside our pieces, through encouraging you to get more mileage out of your swimwear, all through the beauty of styling- because what’s more sustainable than your existing wardrobe!
We spoke to Rachel, Digital Marketing and Communications Manager and here’s what she had to say…
1. Tell us about Royal Trinity Hospice?
Royal Trinity Hospice is a local hospice and charity based in Clapham that provides free, end of life care for anyone that needs us in central and South-West London. We go above and beyond for our patients and their loved ones and we care for around 2,500 patients each year both on our inpatient unit and out in the community. We only receive 25% of our funding from the NHS so we must raise the rest ourselves through fundraising activities and our charity shops.
2. What was your favourite look from the RE.BORN X Royal Trinity campaign?
I LOVED the oversized beige blazer that was worn with a waist-belt with the blue bikini underneath. It was so simple but the pop of blue that peaked through was so eye-catching, I also loved the photos with the RE.BORN Swim tote bag too…who doesn’t love a tote!
3. Which is your favourite Royal Trinity branch?
This is such a hard question as they all offer something different so it depends what vibe you go for. I used to live in the Notting Hill area so I think I’ll always have a soft spot for our Portobello Road shop, however Queensway and our recently redone Notting Hill shop round the corner are also fab! Pimlico and Kensington are also killing it at the moment with Christmas party outfits.
4. Why should we shop preloved?
There is so much to love about shopping preloved and second hand! You can experiment with your style a lot more when you shop in charity shops, and you’ll be helping a great cause too.
Fashion production is the planets second most polluting industry, that to us is shocking and why we are London’s answer to sustainable fashion. 100 billion items are produced each year and 92 billion tonnes of that is thrown away, sent to landfill or disposed of, so that’s the equivalent of 1 rubbish truck full of clothes being burnt or buried in landfill every second.
Charity shops are full of everything you need and there is no need for the over production from fast fashion. You only have to look on Instagram and TikTok to see exactly what bargains and gems you might find in charity shops.
When you shop preloved you’re saving that item from landfill and prolonging its lifespan which helps the world. But if you’re not able to shop preloved then you can still help the environment by rewearing your own wardrobe, repairing and mending, borrowing, clothes swapping and so many other things!
5. What's next for Royal Trinity Hospice?
We have lots of exciting things coming up, it’s Christmas! We’ve just opened a brand new charity shop in Clapham Common and it’s looking incredible, so hopefully some of our other shops will get a little refurb next year. We’re also hoping to plan a few more things with RE.BORN Swim for the warmer weather next year so watch this space…
